UVCI trains coffee and cocoa producers for sustainable agricultural practices

The UVCI organized a training workshop on Tuesday, 29 October 2024 for coffee and cocoa producers, in order to equip them to improve their agricultural practices and strengthen the sustainability of their farms. This event, which is part of the UVCI Digital Presence Point (NPP) project, brought together many actors in the agricultural sector.

More sustainable agricultural practices for better productivity

Côte d'Ivoire, the world's leading cocoa producer and fourth largest coffee producer, faces challenges related to declining productivity and soil degradation. To address these issues, the UVCI set up this workshop to:

  • Sensitize producers on modern and sustainable agricultural techniques.
  • Promote the rational use of agricultural inputs to protect the environment and the health of farmers.
  • Encourage the adoption of innovative technologies to optimize efficiency.
  • Improving the quality of finished products through improved post-harvest management.

During this workshop, participants received practical training on soil fertility management, integrated disease and pest management, production and post-harvest techniques. Experts also shared their knowledge of the latest technological innovations applicable to the agricultural sector.

A positive impact on farmers' incomes and the environment

By adopting the new practices acquired during this training, coffee and cocoa producers will be able to:

  • Increase their yields and improve the quality of their products.
  • Reduce production costs through improved input management.
  • Preserving the environment by adopting sustainable agricultural practices.
  • Access new markets by offering top quality products.
