First successful Hackathon for Virtual University of Ivory Coast

L This competition, which took place on 15 and 16 October 2024 within the University itself, began with the intervention of the University officials with the voice of Prof. Kouamé Fernand Vice-President of the UVCI who addressed welcoming and encouraging remarks to the various participants in the presence of Prof. Koné Tiémoman, President of UVCI.

 Organised as a prelude to the international symposium called "Africa Digital Edu", this hackathon whose theme is " Artificial and Future Digital Intelligence of Learning in Higher Education"  has brought together 11 teams, 10 of them in presentation and a team from Burkina Faso who participated online. For 2 days, these students used their creativity and know-how to demonstrate the useful use of Artificial Intelligence in Ivorian education.

In the course of this competition, the students accompanied by their different coaches worked hard to find innovative solutions that can improve higher education and also create a virtual environment that is favourable and beneficial to all. They then presented their various projects through relevant demonstrations evaluated by members of the panel of technology experts with six rating criteria.

L With the success of this first Hackathon, there is no doubt that many more will follow more and more focused on finding solutions through digital.

In the end, three teams came out of the game by their masters. It was:

- ANATON VR from Burkina Faso that won the first place and an envelope of 500,000f CFA

- DIGITAL SQUAD won the second place with an envelope of 300,000f CFA

- VIRTUAL COMMUNITY OF YAMOUSSOUKRO  a won third place with an envelope of 150.000f CFA

These winners will be accompanied by the incubator in the VOISINAGE of the UVCI and a certificate of participation will be given to all the teams participating in this first edition.

This hackathon that has kept all its promises both in terms of organisation and creation of innovative ideas can have a significant impact on how Artificial Intelligence is perceived and integrated into the higher education system in Côte d'Ivoire.
